never married. (Maranda did have an illegitimate child, Stanley^9 Alfred Montgomery (b. 24 Feb. 1871, Brighton and d. 3 April 1961 Wooler. See

Henrietta^8 Montgomery, b. 26 May 1856, Northumberland,
Ont., CAN. She d. 7 December 1894. She never married. 1891 census shows her living at home, farming with father, Henry, and
sister, Randy (Maranda); Noah^8 W. Montgomery, b. 1857, Northumberland, Ont, CAN. He appeared in 1861 census, age 4
(probably correct) and 1871, age 12 (probably not correct), but either left home, married, or died before 1881 census--not
shown at home.

More information on Stanley A. Montgomery, illegitimate son of Maranda Montgomery: Stanley was b. in Brighton Twp, Ont, CAN
to Maranda (illegitimate) and lived with his mother and grandparents. He moved to USA where he married. He went to Washington State where he
worked as a chef in hotels and restaurants for some years. He also worked as a cook in a lumber camp. He later
abandoned his wife and family in the US and returned to Brighton area and lived with the Valentine girls. His mother, Maranda, was living in the Valentine home and Stanley stayed on
to work the farm until it was sold. Edith and Cora Valentine bought a house in Wooler and Stanley came to live with them. Edith died shortly after
they had moved to Wooler. Stanley lived to be 92 years of age; he died in Wooler on 4 April 1961.
